IT ALL STARTED WITH A NEIGHBORHOOD.
Fiddlehead Fern Café gets its name through inspiration from the historic Shaw Neighborhood and the Missouri Botanical Garden. Find fresh, seasonal botanical ingredients throughout our menu—and fiddles playing on the weekend!
MARCEY HOWELL
Operations Director
Marcey Howell, Operations Director of Fiddlehead Fern Café, has an education in dietetics and business from Fontbonne University. After several years of living and exploring in Alaska, she moved back home to St. Louis. In her previous roles, she served as Project Manager for a large wellness corporation and Operations Director for a successful healthy meals business.
Marcey values the thoughtful incorporation of local, plant-based nutrition as a guiding principle to menu creation and offerings at Fiddlehead. The cafe’s mission to elevate women’s voices, abilities, and opportunities in coffee is Marcey’s favorite part about being on the dedicated and authentic team at Fiddlehead Fern Café.
DARCY HEINE
Owner
Darcy Heine, owner of Fiddlehead Fern Café, is a 4th-generation lifelong resident of the Shaw Neighborhood. Her passion for the community is what the Café has been built upon. Darcy has a background in both photography and restaurant management. In 2012, after finishing her BFA and managing a small neighborhood café in Lafayette Square, she realized how important it is for a neighborhood to have a place for members of the community to gather.
After gaining management experience through the local enterprise, Kaldi's Coffee Roasting Company, roasting with Savannah, Georgia-based PERC Coffee Roasters, and finding inspiration as a photographer for the Missouri Botanical Garden, she brought her own vision to life and opened Fiddlehead Fern Café.
